Descente North America will relocate their American headquarters from Englewood, Colorado to Ogden, Utah.
The search for a new location began in 2003, after Descente management recognized the need for the company to be closer to venues that fuel its existence – ski areas. An internal search committee investigated several locations in the western United States before deciding upon downtown Ogden. The committee cited Utah's favorable economic conditions and excellent quality of life as well as Ogden's close proximity to various world class ski resorts as the basis for their decision.
“We look forward to relocating in the newly designated Ski Manufactures and Distributors Hub in Ogden,” said Curt Geiger, Vice President of Descente North America. “Having our offices and distribution center minutes away from several world-class ski resorts will allow us to continue to immerse Descente in the sport that we have loved for so long. We look forward to having our friends, customers and international partners come and visit Descente in our new Ogden locations.”
“We are thrilled to have Descente coming to Ogden,” said Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey. “They are a high quality, industry leading company that is a perfect fit for our community. The quality of their product and reputation is second only to the caliber of their people. Descente is helping to formalize our ski “Hub” in downtown. With our access to Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Ogden Airport and Salt Lake International Airport, we are perfectly situated to be the Ski Hub of North America. There will be more announcements about members of the ski industry moving to Ogden to be a part of “The Hub”.”
Customers should experience no interruption in service and shipments during the relocation, which is scheduled for November 2004. New contact information for the American office will be made available at a later date.
