With one in four people in Vermont struggling with hunger, Northfield-based sock company Darn Tough Vermont donated 100 percent of its profits from online sales during Giving Tuesday.
“We have been a part of the Vermont community for almost four decades, and as a local family business, one of our primary responsibilities is to first and foremost do what’s right in our own backyard,” said Ric Cabot, Darn Tough Vermont and Cabot Hosiery Mills president and CEO. “I can’t think of a more worthy cause than working with The Vermont Foodbank, an organization that has such a meaningful impact on our community and state.”
As a result of this past week’s collaboration, Darn Tough customers were able to provide 35,127 meals to Vermonters this holiday season.
“Partnerships like this are the fibers that make our community strong,” said Vermont Foodbank CEO John Sayles. “We are truly grateful for Darn Tough’s collaboration as we strive to solve hunger in Vermont. This gift will make a real difference in the lives of the one in four Vermonters who struggles with hunger. Together we can make Vermont a place where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive and tackle life’s challenges.”
