Dakine announced it is growing its mountain bike category for Spring 2021 with riding footwear alongside an updated technical apparel line.
“Dakine has been a key player in the progression of mountain biking for more than 20 years,” said Dakine’s Mountain Marketing Manager, Gabe Schroder. “It is only natural that our brand continues to progress as well, and providing shoes truly rounds out our product line. On the apparel side, having pro team riders like Thomas Vanderham on the roster is a big help as well. He has been with Dakine apparel from the beginning and has such a deep knowledge of fit and materials, as well as an ability to articulate what works best.”
Since 2000 when Dakine introduced its first mountain bike product, the brand has been innovating its gear with worldwide athlete collaborations to define and push the sport—exemplified by the introduction of its mountain bike shoe collection.
Drift offered for men and women, shown right, is for flat pedal riders. Technical features include a soft and grippy rubber outsole with simple patterns for quick adjustments, DK FlexRide shank for support and stability and PU upper foam tongue for improved heat and moisture management. Designed for year-round riding, and for any level mountain biker.
“It’s more than a shoe, it’s a piece of equipment that riders depend on,” said Nate McGinnis, Dakine. “We did a lot of real-world testing on the trails to ensure the performance, the fit, the walking comfort, and the durability met or exceeded our expectations. We’re proud of the product we’ve put forward with our Drift MTB shoe.”
Building upon Dakine’s technical riding apparel line, the brand updated key styles for improved comfort and fit and added Vectra and Syncline silhouettes to the women’s collection. Updated products include the Thrillium Jersey in long- and short sleeve; Thrillium Short Vectra Jersey in long- and short sleeve; Syncline Jersey in long- and short sleeve; and Syncline Short. These styles have been updated with four-way stretch construction, UPF sun protection and simplified silhouettes. Geared towards gravity-focused riders and extending the season into the colder months, the Thrillium Pant is designed to add protection and comfort for all-day enduro-style riding.
