Crocs Acquires Jibbitz…

Crocs has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Jibbitz, LLC for $10 million in cash, plus a potential earn-out of up to $10 million based on certain earnings targets. Jibbitz markets and sells small, button-like accessories and ornaments for Crocs’ footwear and is reportedly pulling in about $2 million in revenues per month.

The company is only about a year old and was started by Rich and Sheri Schmelzer, who began selling the accessories out of their home in Coloado.

Even if Crocs pays the full $20 million, the business is quite a bargain compared to historical prices in the industry. Most acquisitions in the footwear industry are for between 1x and 1.2x revenues; Crocs will be acquiring Jibbitz for much less than that.
