London’s Evening Standard is reporting that the U.K. Office of Fair Trading has reportedly found Umbro, The Football Association Ltd, Manchester United Football Club, and retailers JD Sports, JJB Sports and Allsports, guilty of price-fixing of England soccer shirts and other leading clubs, notably MU. The verdict comes at the close of a two-year investigation.
The eleven companies under investigation could face penalties totaling 10% of the sale of the replica kits. The Standard said the fines could reach an estimated £100 million, or $164 million.
The OTC on Friday denied that the report, instead saying it will publish its decision “in the next few months”.
