Columbia Sportswear Company received the 2003 Earnie Award presented by Earnshaw's Magazine for Best Design in Boys Outerwear. The award ceremony occurred at the Copacabana in New York City.
“We're extremely honored to receive an award that recognizes design excellence,” said Tim Boyle, Columbia Sportswear's CEO and President. “As a company that is committed to designing functional outdoor products emphasizing durability, mobility and style, it's very encouraging to receive positive feedback for our efforts from the industry and its retailers.”
The Earnie Awards are voted on by a cross-section of industry experts, including fashion editors from both trade and consumer publications, representatives from children's buying offices, plus an array of national and specialty retailers. The top three nominees in each category are listed on a final voting ballot, which is distributed to a diverse, selection of “Earnshaw's” retail subscribers across the country.
In addition to receiving its second Earnie Award, Columbia Sportswear was also awarded the 2003 Apex Award from Polartec(R) for the new Soft-Bloc(TM) Sweater in the insulation category. All Apex Award products were judged on innovation and versatility; functionality, fit and comfort; as well as the fundamentals of good design. This award was granted in August 2003.
