The Coleman Company has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Exxel Outdoors, Inc., in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Coleman asserts that Exxel Outdoors has infringed on three patents relating to unique sleeping bag features developed by Coleman, including Colemans Comfort Cuff feature.
The three Coleman patents are U.S. Patent Nos. 6,901,614; 6,964,072; and D504,552.
Colemans complaint seeks a permanent injunction that would prohibit Exxel Outdoors from continuing to infringe Colemans patents. Coleman also seeks monetary damages as compensation for Exxel Outdoors violation of Colemans intellectual property rights.
Coleman company offisials stated that the company invests heavily in its intellectual property and takes appropriate measures to ensure protection of its rights for the benefit of its customers, retailers and shareholders, as in the newly filed lawsuit against Exxel Outdoors.
