Cloudveils Co-Founder and President Stephen Sullivan has resigned following the recent sale of the brand. As reported, Spyder Active Sports last week sold the outerwear firm to Windsong Brands LLC, a private equity firm based in Westport, CT.

Sullivan oversaw Cloudveil’s product, marketing, sales and retail divisions since he co-founded the company along with Brian Cousins in 1997. Cousins left the firm following the companys sale to Spyder in 2008.

“My resignation from Cloudveil was submitted in late January as I was made aware that there would be a change in ownership,” said Sullivan. “Although the last 13 years have been extremely rewarding, I decided that it was simply time for me to take a step back and re-evaluate both personal and professional objectives. I am very proud of what Cloudveil has become, and look forward to watching the brand continue to evolve and achieve its full potential in the years to come. I sincerely thank all of those who put energy and effort into making Cloudveil the brand it is today.”

As part of the sale to Windsong Brands, Jim Reilly, a former COO at The North Face and executive at adidas, was named president of Cloudveil. James Samuel, formerly director of global sales for Cloudveil, became general manager for the brand. The new owners are planning to quickly expand distribution of the brand within the outdoor specialty channel as well as explore extending Cloudveil to other categories such as backpacks.
