City Sports announced that its 20th national retail store will open in Wayne, PA on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 309 East Lancaster Avenue.  The Wayne location joins City Sports' two existing metro Philadelphia shops, which include the downtown Walnut Street store that was renovated this past summer and the Suburban Square store in Ardmore.

City Sports plans to celebrate the Wayne launch with a free community party at the store on November 12 that will include music, snacks and over $1,000 in prizes for consumers.

Continuing momentum on a whirlwind year for City Sports, the Wayne opening marks the brand's third new store to open in the past 12 months including locations at Georgetown in Washington, D.C. and in Wellesley, Mass. The brand also has two new construction projects planned through the end of 2011, including a new store in Silver Spring, Md. and a new, larger location within the aforementioned Suburban Square.

“We are excited to hit this milestone for the City Sports brand, and Wayne is the perfect location to open our 20th store,” said City Sports President and CEO Jeff Connor. “Our metro Philadelphia locations have always been an important part of the City Sports family, and we look forward to introducing local customers to a shopping experience that is sure to delight.”

The Wayne store is designed to highlight City Sports' commitment to outfitting customers with the best apparel and gear for their athletic lifestyles. One feature will be the brand's signature women's experience, a specially curated concept designed specifically for its female customer. Associates will be staffed exclusively to the space, offering shoppers access to personalized apparel and fit consultants as they shop. The section will showcase the most comprehensive assortment of sports bras of any specialty athletic retailer, a huge selection of training pants, yoga and pilates gear, private fitting rooms and communal access to the City Sports' online Bra Finder application hosted on the brand's website.

Set to replicate City Sports' trademark customer service and gear expertise at its existing retail locations, the Wayne shop will continue the brand's national track record as the go-to destination for athletic lifestyle enthusiasts. Specially trained store staff will provide hands-on assistance to customers for everything from apparel recommendations and equipment demos as they peruse City Sports' premiere collection of bike, swim, tennis and training gear, to specialty gait analysis as they shop for sneakers at the store's freestanding footwear wall. Other features of the space: an interactive electronics section that offers shoppers the use of in-store iPads to access information about products and the ability to wear-test headphones, and lockers for participants in City Sports' group activities, including its popular weekly Run Club and Boot Camp series.

“As a brand, our goal is to bring the best-in-class City Sports shopping experience to Wayne so that local customers can benefit from their visit long after they leave the store,” said City Sports EVP of Merchandising Michael Mosca. “By providing an incomparable combination of product assortment and expertise across all sporting categories, we're empowering our athletes, whether avid or casual, to get the best fit and performance from their purchases.”

City Sports' Wayne opening party will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to all patrons. A festive and family-friendly atmosphere is planned with a DJ, treats from local vendors and prize wheel that gifts over $1,000 worth of in-store merchandise, including a GoPro™ digital camera. The first 100 people to enter the store at the start of the event will also receive a free City Sports gift bag and have the chance to win the brand's signature grand prize: one free pair of shoes a month for an entire year.

The company operates 20 metropolitan stores across the East Coast, with locations in Boston, Providence, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Atlanta.
