Christy Sports LLC acquired the assets of Dual Sports Inc., which include Washington retailers Sturtevant’s, Ski Mart and the SkiBonkers annual sale event.
The acquisition closed August 31, 2016. Financial terms were not disclosed.
As an established fixture in the Colorado and Utah snow sports communities since 1958, Christy Sports’ future growth plan includes expansion into the Pacific Northwest.
“The Pacific Northwest is home to a large population of outdoor enthusiasts, and the entire Christy Sports team is excited to expand into that market,” said Patrick O’Winter, Christy Sports’ CEO. “Acquiring a company like Sturtevant’s, with its already established strong brand reputation, is the first step in growing our business in the Pacific Northwest. This transaction also sets the stage for our company to pursue additional opportunities for expansion, product diversification and acquisitions.”
As the largest specialty snow sports retailer in Washington, Sturtevant’s will be anchored by its new Bellevue flagship store opening in October 2016. Sturtevant’s provides quality products and expert customer service to guests in the greater Seattle market, focusing on ski and snowboard equipment in the winter and a supplemental summer business focused on water sports and golf apparel.
Ski Mart locations in Tacoma and Bellevue offer complimentary seasonal offerings of ski and snowboard equipment and rental with water sports and tennis during the summer season. Since 2005, Ski Mart has hosted an annual ski and snowboard Labor Day weekend sale event called SkiBonkers.
Daily operations of Sturtevant’s, Ski Mart and SkiBonkers will continue as usual and operate from their existing head office in Bellevue under their current names, leadership team and staff. Christy Sports team will provide insight and guidance as they continue to better understand the unique needs of Pacific Northwest-based outdoor enthusiasts.

Sturtevant’s new flagship store in Bellevue will be located at 13131 NE 20th and will replace its current location at 1100 Bellevue Way NE.
