Christy Sports LLC, one of the largest winter sports specialty retailers in the nation, announced its most recent acquisition of BootDoctors, a specialty retailer of ski, snowboard and bike products and services, which currently operates out of three locations in Telluride, CO and two locations in Taos, NM.
The acquisition closed November 2, 2017; financial terms were not disclosed.
As an established fixture in the Colorado and Utah snow sports communities since 1958, Christy Sports’ growth plan has always included further expansion throughout the Rocky Mountains. “We’ve been looking to grow our presence in Telluride, and we’re also excited to have the opportunity to enter into Taos,” stated Patrick O’Winter, Christy Sports Chairman. “Acquiring BootDoctors with its well-established brand reputation is the perfect way to expand in these key Rocky Mountain resorts.”
A well-known and respected business within the ski and snowboard industry since 1986, BootDoctors is nationally recognized for its exceptional boot fitting and has been ranked in the top 60 ski shops in the country by Powder Magazine. Much like Christy Sports, BootDoctors is a longtime specialty retailer and equipment renter known for expert customer service and selection of quality products, focusing on both retail and rental services for ski and snowboard equipment during the winter and a supplemental summer business focused on biking and watersports. Along with their retail and rental offerings, BootDoctors also provides guided tours during the summer months for fly fishing, hiking, and biking enthusiasts.
