Choose Outdoors, an advocacy group focused on building support for the nation’s outdoor recreation infrastructure, has named Michelle Barnes as interim president and announced an expanded board of
directors.
Barnes replaces founder Bruce Ward who will continue with Choose Outdoors in the role of senior advisor. She has an extensive history of working with the outdoor community, including serving as vice president at Outdoor Industry Association and at Outward Bound, and has broad experience leading nonprofits through various phases of growth.
A nationwide search for a permanent president will commence in spring 2011.
The organization disclosed its incoming board members include Todd Litzman, president of Brandwise; Jeffrey Olson, a consultant in natural resource management; Elizabeth Simon, sales engineer with Rogers Corporation; and Steve Wilson, marketing director at Waste Management-Recycling. Royal Robbins, a founding board member, is currently serving as board chairman.
