blurr is adding a director of sales to its growing in-house team. Cary Chang joins blurr as Director of Sales for the Canadian and U.S. markets, bringing with him a background in the fashion and outdoor industries. A former Canadian national climbing champion and a competitor on the international climbing circuit, Chang understands the youth, action sports, climbing and outdoor markets from a business mind as well as a participant’s perspective.

“Cary is coming to us with an intuitive understanding of the demographic that blurr and ultimately, the outdoor industry is wanting to reach: the young, active consumers who are no longer limiting themselves to one activity and who are embracing an urban lifestyle with as much passion and interest as they do climbing or outdoor endeavors,” said Gus Alexandropoulos, marketing manager for blurr.

blurr CEO Colin Eves adds, “Cary is a great match for blurr as he can drive our sales force in a way that reinforces blurr’s commitment to integrating the outdoor market with the youth culture demographic. The urban outdoor trend has been imminent for some years, and we are just now seeing it begin to take off. Cary’s experience with fashion appealing to the young active demographic will help us lead the way to further market penetration with the 18-24 year olds that the outdoor industry is looking to convert”. Chang’s experience includes production and design work with various Canadian lifestyle clothing brands as well as owning and managing a successful specialty retailer and apparel company.
