Nike Announces New Consumer Direct Offense

Nike is reducing its geography structure from six to four regions, appointing Michael Spillane to the new role of president of categories and product and creating a new new Nike Direct organization to improve speed to market and better engage consumers. The changes will result an overall reduction of approximately 2 percent of the company’s global workforce.

Skechers Scores Victories In Patent Dispute With Adidas

Skechers USA Inc.. announced that in two separate rulings the United States District Court for the District of Oregon denied Adidas’ motion for a preliminary injunction seeking to prevent Skechers from selling its Mega-Blade series of children’s shoes, and dismissed Adidas’ claim against Skechers for willful infringement of two patents allegedly covering Adidas’ Springblade shoes.

Retail Sales Remain Flat In May

Retail sales in May were essentially unchanged on a seasonally adjusted basis after an upwardly revised gain of 0.6 percent, according to calculations released by the National Retail Federation.
