Cascade Designs, the maker of outdoor equipment, promoted Phil Hitch to director of product development.

Hitch will manage and guide the team responsible for product development under the MSR, Therm-a-Rest, Platypus, SealLine and Tracks brands through ideation, development and into commercialization.

A thirteen-year veteran engineer at Cascade Designs, Hitch most recently served as the Product Development Supervisor for the company's VARILITE medical division. He has been a key player in the engineering and development of successful products such as the MSR SuperFly and SimmerLite stoves, IsoPro fuel and Therm-a-Rest technology-based medical products such as the Icon Back System and the Reflex Seating System.

“Phil brings a well-rounded set of skills to this position, and is steeped in the Cascade Designs culture that focuses on developing and manufacturing useful, innovative, quality outdoor products,” said Ken Meidell, Vice-President of Sales, Marketing and Product Development at Cascade Designs. “He's also a dedicated user of the products, so he brings the most important perspective to the process which is that of the customer.”

Hitch holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University and in his free time enjoys cycling, hiking, camping, snowboarding, snowshoeing, playing guitars and riding vintage motorcycles.
