Former Reebok, Brooks and Nike executive Tom Carmody was elected Chairman of the Board of AmeriDream, the nation’s largest down payment gift giving assistance program charitable organization.

The unique charity is self-sustaining and approached $200 million in gifts in 2002. AmeriDream is also in the affordable housing development business owning major properties in Washington DC, Maryland and Florida at this time.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Tom as Chairman,” said AmeriDream CEO Ann Ashburn. “At this key juncture in our history, having his hand on the tiller as we expand our charitable endeavors into the redevelopment and loss mitigation areas is a tremendous asset. His business background, legal training and marketing acumen are all positives for us. As a Board member this past year his contributions were considerable, now having him head up the charity and spending extensive time here as well, we feel very fortunate. I personally look forward to his mentorship and counsel.”

Formerly, Mr Carmody served as SVP and General Manager of Reebok North America, President of Brooks Athletic Shoes and Director of Marketing and Sales for Nike. He currently continues in his capacity of CEO of Summit International of Hull, Massachusetts, a sports oriented marketing company that does the advertising and promotional sales for Running Times Magazine, sports footwear and apparel for Complex magazine, operates the successful Playboy Scramble nationwide golf tournaments pursuant to license with Playboy Enterprises, and general consultancy work with clients such as Sole Technology, C-360, NetMovies.com among others.
