Pure Fishing, owned by Jarden Corp., announced that chief operations officer, John Doerr, will serve as interim president, effective immediately. Pure Fishing has launched a search for a permanent replacement to Terry Carlson, who recently left the company.

“During this interim period we are confident that John's relationship with the leadership team, his experience, familiarity and knowledge of the business combined with his leadership skills will provide strong support, consistent with Jarden's DNA, in driving continued success,” said Jarden Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer James E. Lillie.

Carlson was named Pure Fishing's CEO in February 2008. Prior to joining Pure Fishing, Carlson was CEO of the Americas business for Raymarine Inc., a maker of in marine products. He was also responsible for worldwide global product management and strategy. Prior to Raymarine, Carlson held senior management positions at Black & Decker, Polaroid, and Emerson Electric.

Since joining Pure Fishing in January 2006, Doerr's responsibilities have included global operations including manufacturing, sourcing, engineering, supply chain, information technology; quality, logistics, customer service and fulfillment. In addition to a wealth of professional experience, John brings to the position a passion for the outdoors and is an avid angler and hunter.

Doerr, who grew up working for his family's wholesale distribution company and retail sporting goods stores in Idaho, received his bachelor's degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and his MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. His professional background includes working with Kurt Salmon Associates, Cobra Golf, Bell Sports and Cannondale Bicycle Company in a variety of senior-level roles. During his tenure at Cannondale, he served as Chief Operating Officer and President of Operations, as well as holding the title of Co-President for global business activities in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

“Pure Fishing continues to be a worldwide leader in the design and production of quality fishing tackle and it is an honor to assume this role,” Doerr said. “We have great momentum and we look forward to strengthening our partnership with our customers and continue to bring innovative products to the global angling community.”
