Canyon Bicycles added Chad Manuell as chief technology officer and to its executive leadership team, effective immediately.

The company said Manuell fills the position vacated by Michael Kaiser, who is stepping into a role with Canyon’s Executive Advisory Board after 17 years with the company, having played a “vital role in turning the company into the world-leading direct-to-consumer bike brand it is known as today.”

Manuell joins Canyon with over 22 years of experience in the bike industry, most recently as director of engineering at Trek in Wisconsin, and reportedly comes with a track record as “one of the most respected innovators in the business.”

“I’m thrilled to join a team of passionate cyclists that truly puts innovation and customer-centricity at the forefront of operations. I’m committed to continuing to drive innovation, accelerate development and deliver products that will inspire people to ride and win races on the biggest stages around the world,” commented Manuell.

Manuell follows the recent hires of Alison Jonesas COO and Karim Bohn as CFO/Managing Director over the past year.

“Without doubt the addition of Chad allows us to continue to fulfill our ambition to be the world’s most inspiring and innovative bike brand. He fuels our accelerated innovation and development pathway,” said Canyon CEO Nicolas de Ros Wallace.
