CamelBak agreed in principle to a strategic partnership with Mystery Ranch Backpacks to design and manufacture pack and hydration systems for the military, special operations, and elite tactical markets. Under the agreement, Mystery Ranch and CamelBak will co-design and manufacture a wide variety of packs with integrated hydration systems for the special operations community and other tactical operators. The U.S. military is already very familiar with both companies' work, given their regular collaboration to create systems that meet battlefield specifications.
Camelbak will be essentially designing hydration systems specifically for larger volume packs that Dana Gleason, president, designer, and owner of Mystery Ranch, will design. Camelbak will then use their manufacturing facilities throughout the U.S. to mass produce these larger volume packs to fill orders from the military, specifically Special Forces.
“We couldn't have asked for a better partner,” said Dana Gleason. “The SPEC-OPS customers love our NICE frame, Outamatic X, BDSB and custom, mission-specific designs. However, they are also loyal CamelBak users because of CamelBak's proven designs, anti-microbial reservoir technology, rugged HydroLink components, and chem bio resistant systems. The design possibilities are now endless.”
Mystery Ranch is headquartered in Bozeman, MT and, when necessary, performs additional contract production in Colorado. For U.S. government contracts, CamelBak uses a wide variety of American manufacturers and can leverage these large-scale, U.S. production capabilities to meet almost any customer requirement.
