In sales earned by Hydro Flask in fiscal Q2, ended August 31, 2016. Helen of Troy, which acquired the the hydration brand in March, reaped the rewards of the 36.8 percent increase from a year ago. Hydro Flask single-handedly drove up revenue at Helen of Troy’s Housewares segment by 34.4 percent during the period.

The estimated annual sales of a combined Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s business, pending a planned merger. The deal would practically double the business for both companies, which are fairly equal in size. Cabela’s has about 19,700 employees; Bass Pro has about 20,000. Cabela’s has 85 stores; Bass Pro has 99.

In sales in November and December’s holiday-selling season, excluding auto, gas and restaurant sales, are being predicted by the National Retail Federation. The 3.6 percent boost from a year ago is significantly higher than the 10-year average of 2.5 percent, and credited to expected strong digital sales and an improving job market.

Steve Rendle has been with VF Corporation before being named CEO this past week. Rendle joined VF’s Outdoor and Action Sports segment in 1999. Rendle will take the helm from Eric Wiseman on January 1, 2017, to head the parent of The North Face, Timberland, Reef, Vans, Wrangler, Lucy, Majestic Athletic, Nautica, Jansport and Eagle Creek brands, among others.

Within Newell Brands will be consolidated into 16 operating divisions as the company begins its shift “from a holding company to an operating company,” said CEO Michael Polk. With the transition, Newell put a roster of its recently acquired Jarden Corp. winter sports brands, including K2 Sports, up for auction.
