BSN Sports has acquired the team sports business of Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods, based in St. Louis.  All nine of Johnny Mac’s stores are expected to close.

“This truly is a win-win situation for everyone involved, including our customers, our employees, and for BSN Sports,” Johnny Mac’s co-owners Bob and Rick McArthur said in a statement Monday. “This is, first and foremost, a ‘people’ business, and we are confident that Johnny Mac’s employees will find greater opportunity and additional resources under the BSN Sports banner which, in turn, will benefit our loyal customers. We are incredibly grateful for their many years of support.”

“With the addition of Johnny Mac’s team division, we have now added over 200 sales professionals in the last twelve months, including valuable teammates in Colorado, Florida, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Alabama, Georgia, Washington, Utah, Kentucky and, now, Missouri and Michigan,” Terry Babilla, president of BSN Sports, said in a statement.

Johnny Mac’s opened in 1967 and operates nine stores in Missouri, Illinois and Michigan, including five in the St. Louis region.
