Shoe Company, Inc. announced the promotion of Scott Cooper to SVP-Marketing for the corporation and the additions of Timothy R. Heard as SVP-Brown Shoe International and Paul M. Malutinok as SVP-Strategic Planning.

“As Brown Shoe continues to gain marketshare, were building a more strategic platform to grow our business units and keep pace with today’s highly competitive retail environment,” said Brown Shoe Chairman and CEO Ron Fromm. “Our strategy focuses resources on our growth areas, and having strong leaders in place is key to making that strategy successful.”

Scott Cooper, SVP-Marketing for Brown Shoe, has been promoted from his previous position as SVP-Marketing for the company’s Famous Footwear division. Mr. Cooper’s role increases to include marketing oversight for Brown Shoe’s wholesale business units. He joined the company in January 2001 and since then has developed a disciplined approach to research, planning and marketing at Famous Footwear. Prior to that, he was President and Managing Partner of The Hiebing Group, a national advertising/communications firm based in Madison, WI, where he managed Famous Footwear’s account for 11 years (1985-1996).

Timothy R. Heard, SVP-Brown Shoe International, comes to Brown Shoe with a more than 20-year history of developing, designing and successfully managing retail and financial service businesses. He will head business development for Brown Shoe International, the company’s international retail, marketing and sales organization. Most recently, Mr. Heard was Vice President of Retail Marketing for E*TRADE Securities, Inc., and prior to that spent four years with Uptons Department Stores as COO, Vice President, Store Planning and Operations.

Paul M. Malutinok, SVP-Strategic Planning, takes on a newly created position, responsible for strategic planning and market intelligence for Brown Shoe and its retail and wholesale divisions. He has more than 20 years of planning, development and finance experience in the footwear and retail industry. Previously with Best Buy, Mr. Malutinok also worked in financial planning for Payless ShoeSource and May Company department stores.
