After taking a year off to explore the business side of lacrosse with Brine, Inc., Mike Powell has announced his intent to play Major League Lacrosse during the upcoming 2005 season. Nothing is official, as player contracts are not released until mid-February.

“Just because I wasn’t actually playing last year doesn’t mean that I wasn’t still involved with the sport or had stopped loving it,” said Mike Powell. “I realize that my decision to sit out last season upset some people however I felt that it was my choice and best for myself to put some attention on other areas in my life that are just as important. Lacrosse has always been a part of my life and I am looking forward to suiting up and playing in the MLL.”

Though you did not see Powell influencing the game with his original, signature style on the field does not mean he wasn’t continuing to promote and improve the sport. Powell spent the better part of last year working out of the new Brine West office in Denver, Colorado designing his signature Mikey Powell line of lacrosse clothing and equipment.
