Olympic Gold Medal winner Bode Miller will serve as an Ambassador for Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month (LSSM). Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month (LSSM) is a national initiative in the U.S. to encourage children and adults to get out on the snow during January and take lessons from a professional instructor.

More than 300 resorts throughout the U.S. are offering free or affordable programs directed to beginners and those with some experience.

Miller is sponsored by HEAD Ski Company, also a sponsor for LSSM. He joins famous extreme skier, Glen Plake as an Ambassador for LSSM.

Miller has a history of supporting activity programs. Miller and his family started The Turtle Ridge Foundation (TurtleRidgeFoundation.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adaptive and youth sports programs and athletic opportunities throughout the United States. This is an active and exciting way for Bode to engage with his fans and supporters and motivate communities to participate in healthy life-style choices that they might not otherwise be exposed to.

“The challenge in life for most people is making the conscious decision to do good for others or to do nothing. It's the choice that defines the individual,” says Miller. “I'm pleased to be working with Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month to encourage children and adults to get involved with skiing and snowboarding. With childhood obesity at an all-time high, this program makes it easy for anyone to take some lessons and get some exercise out on the snow.”

Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is an industry initiative organized by the National Ski Areas Association, the Professional Ski Instructors of America, the American Association of Snowboard Instructors, SnowSports Industries America, the National Ski Patrol, numerous state and regional resort associations, rep associations, retailers and the snow sports media.
