Birkenstock will open its first stand-alone store in Paris on July 20 in the fourth arrondissement. The two-level store is in the heart of the Marais district near the BHV Marais Department Store.

To date, the Birkenstock brand, led by Clémence Genevard, formerly with PVH Corp., has been sold exclusively through multi-brand retailers and its e-commerce site.

Founded in 1774, the company reported an increase in its production capacity. It invested €15 million in the town of Arouca, in northern Portugal, where it now operates a manufacturing facility.

In 2021, L Catterton and Financière Agache, a holding company controlled by Agache, owned by the Arnault family, bought a majority stake in Birkenstock.
