Big Agnes named Will McElwain to a newly created product designer position.

“Will’s diverse experience, expertise and passion for gear will be critical as we continue to expand into new product categories and deepen our existing line,” says Bill Gamber, Big Agnes co-founder and president. “By adding to our product team we’re investing in the future of the brand and the quality of our products. It’s awesome that he’s designed camping gear before but I was more excited to hear stories from his extensive world travel and the number of nights he’s spent in our tents.”

Based in Steamboat Springs, CO, Big Agnes manufactures sleeping bags, pads, tents and apparel and is the exclusive distributor of Helinox camp furniture.

McElwain, shown to the right, joins Big Agnes after working for over four years as an equipment designer at The North Face, in addition to several years working as a freelance designer. He has designed products ranging from tents, backpacks, rolling luggage, and sleeping bags. Projects he has been involved with have received a number of accolades over the years including “Gear of the Year” from Outside Magazine and an Editors’ Choice Award from Germany’s Outdoor Magazine.

“Big Agnes has built a reputation for building some of the best, most innovative camping gear in the industry and that’s what originally drew me to the position,” states McElwain. “It’s an exciting time to join Big Agnes and I’m personally sold on the gear so it’s a good fit. The new apparel line, in addition to other new product introductions, offers tremendous growth potential and I’m looking forward to being part of the team.”
