“An estimated three-quarters of all Lyme disease cases come from ticks picked up during activities around the home,” said Ben’s maker of insect repellents. The brand wants to lower that statistic by introducing Tick Fence, a repellent that “effectively kills and repels ticks that may carry Lyme disease,” and recommends consumers “treat grass, vegetation, leaf litter, and adjacent areas” with the solution.

Ben’s Tick Fence uses an EPA-registered solution with a CDC-recommended Permethrin-based formula that applies to vegetation with a battery-powered wand. The spray requires a 6- to 10-foot-wide application. One gallon of the solution treats approximately 1,000 feet.
In addition to repelling all varieties of ticks, including deer ticks, lone star ticks, brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, and Western black-legged ticks, the solution also kills other crawling insects including Asian lady beetles, boxelder bugs and stink bugs.
