The Conservation Alliance and member companies Mountain Hardwear, The North Face, Marmot, CamelBak, Clif Bar, Deckers, JAM Media Collective, The Forest Group and REI will partner April 11 with the East Bay Regional Park District in a conservation effort in the Tilden Nature Area, a 740-acre preserve located just north of Tilden Regional Park in the East Bay.

The cross-organizational event, known as the Backyard Collective, brings together Conservation Alliance member companies and heir employees for a day of collective action.

We have a great cluster of member companies in the Bay Area, and we are excited to get their employees out for a day of stewardship and fun, said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance.

The East Bay Backyard Collective takes place April 11, 2013 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The team will work on a variety of projects, including: trail maintenance; construction of turnpikes; installation of steps; and restoration of sensitive areas in the Tilden Nature Area and Wildcat Regional Parks.

An after party with refreshments and food catered by Ebbetts Good To Go Food Truck follows the volunteer effort. The event also features a volunteer fair at which Conservation Alliance grantees and local environmental organizations will share information on their current conservation initiatives and share ways for individuals to get involved.

The East Bay Regional Park District is looking forward to our second Backyard Collective event, said Jim Townsend, Trails Development Manager for East Bay Regional Park District. We really appreciate all the help and promise to deliver good times for all.

The Backyard Collective conservation effort in Tilden is the second of eight nationwide events planned for 2013. The other cities include: Salt Lake City (May 30); Bend, Ore. (June 25); Seattle (July 12); Portland, Ore. (August 21); Boulder (September TBD); and Boston (September 25). This is the fifth year of Backyard Collectives for the Conservation Alliance and their members, grantees and partners.
