Backwoods, which entered into bankruptcy proceedings last November, has sold Boulder’s Neptune Mountaineering to Shelley and Andrew Dunbar.

The Dunbars own the North American distribution company for Australian gear manufacturer Sea to Summit. Neptune Mountaineering has one location at 633 South Broadway in Boulder. The location was founded by Gary Neptune in 1973 and acquired by Backwoods in 2013.

According to an article in Boulder’s DailyCamera, Neptune Mountaineering is restocking and expects to have full inventories by spring.

With the sale, Backwoods continues to operate five stores in Fort Worth, TX; Omaha, NE; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; and Wichita, KS. The company had ten stores in operation when it filed. Among the closings have been Backwoods stores in Norman, OK and Bentonville, AR; and a Dynamic Earth in Springfield, MO.
