Backcountry.com Launches Outlet Site…

Backcountry.com has decided to enter the distressed merchandise market and has launched a new site called Backcountryoutlet.com. The company says that the new site will offer the same services and experience that backcountry.com offers while offering overstock merchandise at discounted prices. The new site will prominently display the model year and why the product has landed in the overstock channel.

The company said that their goal was to, “provide customers the best prices on overstock of premium outdoor gear, while giving gear manufacturers a professional, well-respected channel to release overstock items through.”

“Brands on BackcountryOutlet.com will not be sold next to 15-year-old hound's-tooth Jackets or patio furniture,” said Dustin Robertson, Backcountry.com’s director of marketing. “We will fully leverage our experience and reputation as the premium outdoor adventure gear retailer to support our manufacturer’s investment in their brands.”

Backcountry.com has launched a new site focused on overstock goods. The company said that BackcountryOutlet.com will “provide customers the best prices on overstock of premium outdoor gear, while giving gear manufacturers a professional, well-respected channel to release overstock items through”. The new store continues Backcountry.com’s expansion into new categories that are natural extensions within the backcountry category.

“Our focus continues to be on building the best high-end, specialty outdoor resource on the Web and BackcountryOutlet.com is the logical next step, both for our customers and our vendors,” said Jim Holland, Backcountry.com’s co-founder and chief executive officer.

BackcountryOutlet.com will provide customers with the same transparent, customer-focused experience that the premium Backcountry.com store delivers. Content on BackcountryOutlet.com will prominently display the model year and why the product has landed in the overstock channel. Images of all the colors, technical specifications, product descriptions and objective customer feedback will all be displayed alongside the product. As well, Backcountry.com’s award-winning customer service crew will be available to answer any questions and concerns BackcountryOutlet.com customers may have.

By providing their vendor’s overstock gear with the same specialty merchandising and premium customer service support it has on Backcountry.com, BackcountryOutlet.com will help their vendors maximize their brand name value.
