Avia is now available in Walmart's stores and on walmart.com. In May, Brown Shoe Co. sold Avia as well as the Nevados outdoor brand to Galaxy Brand Holdings Inc. for $74 million.
Opening up distribution to Walmart was expected to occur. Galaxy Brand Holdings had previously acquired And 1 from Brown Shoe in August 2011 and subsequently launched And 1 at Walmart.
On walmart.com, prices for Avia men's and women's running shoes and sneakers range from to $24.78 to $27.87. Toddler versions are available for $14.97. The discount giant's back-to-school press release issued July 16 also pointed to deals on accessories and clothing items, “like AND1 backpacks for $14.88 and AVIA sneakers for $15.”
Walmart's other sneaker brands include Starter, OP, Fubu, Dr. Scholl's, Faded Glory, Danskin Now and Airspeed.
