Optimism Grows For Limited China Trade Deal

With the 13th round of U.S.-China trade negotiations set to begin Thursday in Washington, both sides are reportedly considering an “interim” deal that would suspend planned further U.S. tariffs in exchange for additional purchases of American farm products.

Retail Imports To See Surge Ahead Of December Tariffs 

Imports at the nation’s major retail container ports are expected to hit their highest level of the year again next month just before more tariffs take effect in December, according to the Global Port Tracker report released Wednesday by the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates.

US Relaxes Sponsorship Rules For Olympic Athletes

U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be able to thank personal sponsors, appear in advertisements for those sponsors and receive congratulatory messages from them during next year’s Tokyo Games under guidance released Tuesday by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Athletes’ personal sponsors will also be able to run generic ads during the Olympics.

JackRabbit To Acquire Olympia Sports

JackRabbit, the running chain owned by affiliates of CriticalPoint Capital (CPC), announced the acquisition of certain assets and liabilities, including the online presence and the “Olympia Sports” brand from Olympia Sports. JackRabbit will be retaining about half of Olympia Sports’ locations and plans to continue to operate the banner.
