Athletic Propulsion Labs, or APL, is generating some buzz in the athleisure space with its woven sneakers that offer support without bulk. Social media taste-makers like Kourtney Kardashian, Helen Owen and Tone It Up founders Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott have all featured the shoes on their feeds.

APL was founded in March 2009, by then 23-year-old identical twins Adam and Ryan Goldston. As former sport collegiate athletes, playing both basketball and football at the University of Southern California, Adam and Ryan envisioned creating a company providing products that symbolize the intersection of design and performance.

The shoes’ soles are made of Propelium, a material that doesn’t break down as quickly as foam. The brand’s TechLoom Pro is a sleek running shoe that comes in colors ranging from black, white and heather grey to rose gold and beige. Saks Fifth Avenue and Net-a-Porter both carry the brand, which most recently came out with a cashmere iteration of the TechLoom.
