Gap, Inc. is listing 162,000 square feet of office space at 1 Harrison Street in San Francisco for lease or sale as first reported by the San Francisco Business Times. The space is currently the headquarters of Athleta, the athleisure brand owned by Gap.
The report indicated it’s not clear how many corporate Athleta employees are working in the San Francisco office or where they would relocate, though they could be transferred to Gap’s recently remodeled 545,000-square-foot headquarters at 2 Folsom Street about a block away.
New space could support expansion.
Gap said it plans to add 30 Athleta stores in 2023. Athleta ended the third quarter, ended October 29, with 340 locations, against 320 at the same time a year ago.
The report comes nearly a year after Old Navy, which is also owned by Gap, shuttered its Mission Bay headquarters and consolidated employees into the office building at 1 Harrison Street in the Embarcadero area. Gap also recently announced a round of layoffs amid softer sales.
