Athleta, based in Petaluma, CA, will move its offices to San Francisco to join owner Gap Inc. in early 2017, according to The Press Democrat.
A Gap spokesperson said the decision to move was “driven by our long-term need to accommodate growth” for Athleta, which was founded in Petaluma in 1998.
No layoffs are expected. Athleta employees are being given the option to commute to San Francisco. The company’s new headquarters will be at 1 Harrison Street.
Athleta had 126 retail stores as of July 30. It opened six locations and closed none this year.
