AstroTurf Corporation, the maker of synthetic turf, hired Jason Berning as vice president of architectural sales for the Western United States. In this role,  Berning will be primarily working with architects and consultants to ensure they have all of the information that AstroTurf has to give about the product lines of AstroTurf, Rekortan Tracks, Laykold tennis courts and the other brands in the SportGroup family.

Berning has 30 plus years of business-world success in management, marketing, sales, and operations. He has spent 18 years in the synthetic turf industry and will be celebrating his tenth anniversary with AstroTurf this year. Berning has a strong track record in not only advancing AstroTurf but also the synthetic turf industry as a whole. He has been involved with the Synthetic Turf Council, Sports Turf Managers Association, and the Stadium Managers Association. He helped lead the team that won the award for innovative product of the year at the 2015 STMA Convention for our hybrid natural grass reinforced synthetic turf product. Berning has been involved with literally several hundred turf projects over the years.

“After all of these years, I was ready for and grateful for the opportunity of a new challenge,” said Berning. “Having successfully managed a large region for AstroTurf for many years with the responsibilities of recruiting and mentoring a regional staff and offering them operational support, training, and technical assistance, I believe it has positioned me well for this new role in Architectural Sales.”

Berning has spent much of his industry years in Kansas City.

“Hopefully, over the years I have become a better listener and developed an ability to be more collaborative,” stated Berning. “I am very proud of the large number of repeat customers that we have enjoyed and also of how many of those customers that have become my personal friends. I am also proud of my relationships with our AstroTurf team and just how much they truly care about our customers. I look forward to being able to build on all of this in my new role.”
