ASICS is taking steps to make its production process more environmentally-friendly. The Japanese sporting goods manufacturer is introducing new shoeboxes for the spring/summer 2007 season as part of its ongoing commitment to the environment.

The new shoebox is made from recycled paper and it will be used for ASICS’ athletic and sports fashion footwear, as well as Onitsuka Tiger, ASICS’ Japanese heritage brand.

By changing the construction, the new design uses less paper per box. It also allows for a reduction in wasted paper during the actual cutting process. In total, paper consumption will be reduced by 12%.

In 2001, ASICS Corporation’s head office in Kobe and ASICS Institute of Sport Science, its Research and Development center, acquired ISO14001, an international standard on environmental management.

ASICS plans to continue its commitment to the environment and hopes to reduce waste during the production of ASICS products in the future.
