Asics America Corp. launched a lawsuit against Steven Madden Ltd., claiming the company infringed on Asics trademark stripe design. According to documents filed in a California district court, Asics alleged that Maddens Stryker, Swift, Sweeper and Kwick designs use a stripe design that is “confusingly similar” to the Asics stripe design mark, which Asics has exclusively used for about 40 years.
Asics also is seeking damages for breach of contract from an earlier settlement with Steven Madden, under which terms are confidential, along with claims of unfair competition and trademark dilution.
