Asics America Corporation announced a new partnership with Girls on the Run, the physical activity-based youth development program for girls in third through eighth grade. As a sponsor of the national grassroots organization, Asics America will provide footwear, volunteer opportunities and health and fitness programming to the members of Girls on the Run's 225 councils across the country.

Founded in 1996, Girls on the Run utilizes running to encourage and motivate girls, support lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. It recently reached a significant milestone in serving its one-millionth girl.

“Asics was founded on a humble idea that sports have the power to transform lives,” said Kim Bhesania, Asics America Corporation business director of women's. “We are thrilled to continue to bring Asics' founding vision to life through this opportunity with Girls on the Run and can't wait to support these girls as they embark on their journey to become runners.”

“We are so grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Asics to help us provide affordable, high quality footwear to our participants,” said Elizabeth Kunz, CEO at Girls on the Run. “We want all girls to recognize and activate their limitless potential and appreciate the support of Asics in helping us fulfill our mission.”

Meeting twice a week in small teams, the organization teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. In addition to footwear, Asics America will provide video content for the organization's Coaches Portal on topics that support Girls on the Run's overall curriculum, including injury prevention, running and fitness tips, and healthy habits for girls – all to help the girls prepare for the celebratory 5K that culminates the program.

Additionally, to further its commitment, Asics America will engage its team of elite athletes in support of Girls on the Run and organize meet-and-greets with local councils. The brand will also activate its new partnership at the upcoming 2015 TCS New York City Marathon, where Asics America will serve as the official footwear and apparel sponsor.
