Asics America will open a new distribution center in Marshall County, MS in 2011. Phase I of the project includes a new 520,000-square-foot, 38-acre distribution center which is scheduled to open in April 2011.
This new facility, which is about 20 miles from the current Southaven, MS distribution center, will focus on shipping footwear. The current location, a 350,000-square-foot facility, will distribute apparel and accessories, and will have the ability to store additional footwear during high volume months. Roughly 200 employees are estimated for the initial start up phase.
Asics will partner with Fortna, a supply chain solutions company based out of Reading, Pa. for the design, procurement, material handling systems and installation.
“The new distribution center will provide more square footage and the advanced level of technology required to meet Asics’ growing demand for years to come,” says Gary Jordan, V.P. of operations, chief supply chain officer.
