SylvanSport has teamed up with Prestige Subaru of Asheville, NC to create the Prestige Adventure Center, a multi-use showroom featuring adventure gear manufactured by members of the newly formed Outdoor Gear Builders of Western North Carolina.

The Prestige Adventure Center will open mid-July to display the best adventure products coming out of the region, with the GO camping trailer taking center stage on the showroom floor.

Asheville is known as ‘Beer City, and through the efforts of the Outdoor Gear Builders of Western North Carolina, and the new Prestige Adventure Center, it stands a chance of becoming ‘Gear City, said Kyle Mundt, SylvanSport’s director of marketing and new product development for the GO pop up camper.

Just as some of the big breweries-like New Belgium, Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues-have opened east coast operations in Western North Carolina, reinforcing Ashevilles status as Beer City, the hope is that the big gear companies traditionally rooted in the west will follow suit, adding a new title to the region as Gear City.

Along with SylvanSport, over 30 local outdoor companies will showcase their wares and services at the Adventure Center, including Watershed, Tsuga Canopies, Navitat, SkinFare, Bellyak, Outrider USA, EarthSports Design, Rightline Gear, Invert SUP, REEB Bikes, and more. The Prestige Adventure Center will be the exclusive downtown Asheville showroom for the Outdoor Gear Builders of Western North Carolina brands, including the GO, SylvanSports sleek, lightweight, easy-to-tow camping and gear-hauling pop up camper.

Mundt worked closely with Prestige Subaru owner Tony Pelle and Marketing Director Larry Adams to develop the Prestige Adventure Center in Prestige Subarus former Suzuki building. Prestige Subaru is the number one Subaru dealer in the Southeast.

The Prestige Adventure Center will be a lot like a community center, said Mundt. This will be a place where local outdoor gear builders, retailers like Diamond Brand, REI, and Black Dome, and adventure companies like NOC, Navitat, and others, can all get together, have their products on display, and help promote each other.

The Prestige Adventure Center will also be used for different community events like adventure presentations, special charitable events such as pet adoptions, and promotional events with live, local music. The grand opening date for the Prestige Adventure Center, along with details of the celebration, will be announced soon.

For Prestige Subaru, Ashevilles premiere Subaru dealership, the addition of the Prestige Adventure Center will welcome their customers and visitors with examples of the best local gear for outdoor enthusiasts, like the GO camping trailer, and will double as a service center and waiting room.

Were excited to open the Prestige Adventure Center and offer our customers the unique opportunity to check out our Extreme Outdoor Editions of All-Wheel Drive Subaru Outbacks, Foresters, and Crosstreks, as well as connect with local adventure businesses and outdoor gear providers, like our friends at SylvanSport and other local companies, said Tony Pelle, owner of Prestige Subaru.

The Outdoor Gear Builders of Western North Carolina formed out of a desire to grow the outdoor manufacturing industry in Western North Carolina, through a network of sharing knowledge and information. SylvanSport, as well as ENO (Eagle Nest Outfitters) were instrumental in forming the network. With the new Prestige Adventure Center, the group will have a spectacular home to showcase and promote their products together.

Western North Carolina is the perfect place for gear manufacturers, said Natalie DeRatt, Director of Marketing at Eagles Nest Outfitters, Inc., a thriving Asheville company that manufactures parachute hammocks and accessories. Not only is the area a perfect place to test and develop gear, but it provides its employees and owners with a fantastic quality of life and a huge backyard for outdoor fun.
