In the spirit of supporting the development of young professionals the  field, the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education has once again set aside a student scholarship fund to be awarded for student
development and assistance in attending The AORE CONFERENCE.

Upon recipient selection, the scholarship award will be sent directly to the conference host to cover the registration fees for those individuals. These students will also be selected to contribute their talents to the 2008 Conference by promoting AORE educational materials at the AORE exhibit booth and assisting other students and professionals at the AORE Career Center, as well as serving as room monitors during educational sessions.

A number of guidelines are used by AORE to select recipients. First, each applicant must be a current AORE member and be a current student in good academic standing (graduate or undergraduate) in any related curriculum, to best prepare them for a job in the field of Outdoor Recreation and Education (verification
required).

Applicants must have made significant contributions to their department, institution or private outdoor related program through their involvement as demonstrated through the following: employee/campus recreation advisory board, committee work, participation in student organizations, committee/campus activity, or leadership in employee training or orientation programs. Further, applicants must have shown a commitment to scholarship through research, honors, self-improvement through continuing education, certifications, presentations, participation in professional organizations, internships, etc.

Finally, applicants must be prepared to assist at the conference promoting education materials at the AORE booth, the career center and in educational sessions for a total estimated number of 6 hours over the course of the conference.

This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the students making significant contributions in our field and to help promote their further professional development. We encourage AORE members to recognize these students and to encourage them to apply.
