Citing Anvil Knitwear's commitment to further integrate environmental and social performance into the company's U.S. and international facilities, the Ceres board of directors approved Anvil as a Ceres company. Anvil is one of more than 70 companies in the Ceres network.
Companies that join Ceres must make continuous strides in improving their sustainability performance and reporting practices by engaging with investors, environmental groups, and other stakeholders. Founded in 1989, Ceres is a leading network of investors, environmental groups and other public interest organizations working with companies to address sustainability challenges. Ceres also directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk, comprised of more than 50 institutional investors who collectively manage over $4 trillion in assets.

Anvil launched its sustainability program with the establishment of a comprehensive environmental policy endorses by executive management and the board of directors. The company has seen a growing demand from customers for sustainable products and has continuously discovered that business practices that are environmentally sound are also fiscally sound.
Anvil is working to incorporate sustainability at every level of business. Current company initiatives include the use of environmentally sustainable manufacturing methods, recycling programs, waste diversion and wastewater treatment processes, energy conservation programs and employee education.
