Jackson Kayak is putting its money where its environmental beliefs lie. The country’s fourth largest seller of whitewater kayaks has designated American Whitewater as the main beneficiary of proceeds raised from Jackson’s recent membership in 1% For the Planet.

Jackson Kayak joined 1% For the Planet earlier this year. The premise of the global non-profit is that members pledge to donate at least 1% of their annual net revenue to environmental organizations. Jackson Kayak is dedicating most of its donation to American Whitewater. AW is dedicated to the health and protection of the nation’s whitewater rivers.

Jackson Kayak officially launches its environmental initiative April 1. From that date, the first 500 purchasers of a new Jackson Kayak will receive a free one-year membership to AW, courtesy of the Jackson family.

“Jackson Kayak and the Jackson family believe that membership in American Whitewater is one of the easiest and most effective ways paddlers can support environmental river stewardship,” said Director of Sales Kristine Jackson. Jackson also serves on the board of American Whitewater.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jackson Kayak to the rapidly expanding 1% member ranks,” said Terry Kellogg, Executive Director of 1% For The Planet. “Jackson Kayak’s overall business philosophy is a wonderful fit with our program and we hope more paddlesports companies will choose to join in their wake.” To find out more about 1% For The Planet, visit www.onepercentfortheplanet.org.

Founded in 1954, American Whitewater has positively influenced stewardship on thousands of river miles and is currently working on more than 65 projects nationwide. AW’s primary source of funding is donations and membership from whitewater enthusiasts.
