Domestic manufacturers have until October 31, 2016 to submit their entry for the 2017 American Made Outdoor Gear Awards.
The American Made Outdoor Gear Awards, founded in 2013 by Arcata, CA-based paddlesports company Kokatet, celebrate the stories of companies with a commitment to American manufacturing and sourcing. Applications for the 2017 American Made Outdoor Gear Awards can be completed online here.
The company with the best made-in-America story receives one-year ownership of the “Sassy” traveling trophy – a hand carved redwood Sasquatch from Humboldt County, CA. Category winners receive miniature versions of the award; entrants and finalists receive a certificate of participation.
Past winners of Sassy include Liberty Bottleworks (libertybottles.com) of Yakima, WA, Benchmade Knives (benchmade.com) of Portland, OR, Sterling Rope (sterlingrope.com) of Biddeford, ME and current warden of the trophy Hyperlite Mountain Gear (hyperlitemountaingear.com) also of Biddeford, ME.
Award finalists will be announced on Friday, November 25, 2016, and winners will be announced during an official Sassy presentation on January 11, 2017, day two of the 2017 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, UT.
