Altra expanded its Timp collection of road-to-trail shoes with the Timp Hiker and updated the trail running model, Timp 5.

“The Timp has been a top choice and beloved trail running shoe of Altra’s for many years, and we wanted to expand the line and develop a new boot that offers the same quality, durability and feel to hikers. Now both runners and hikers can experience the Timp Hiker and new Timp 5 with a lightweight trail and hiking boot to feel comfortable and on any trail,” said Alex Lind, senior product line manager at Altra. “The Timp Family gives runners and hikers more confidence and control while providing improved stability and flexibility for going through rough terrain,” he continued.

The Timp 5 is an updated version of Altra’s high-cushion trail shoe at an ounce lighter and comes with a Vibram Megagrip outsole for traction on wet and dry surfaces. Altra’s improved Ego Max midsole foam is a softer and more responsive ride to stay out longer and further on any terrain.

The Timp 5 features a 29mm stack height, Altra’s FootShape toebox and zero drop to achieve natural movement and running form.

The Timp Hiker, new to the collection, incorporates the cushion and grip of the Timp trail running shoe into a hiking boot with added ankle support. Vibram Megagrip compound enhances grip and traction while hiking, while the updated Altra Ego Max midsole provides cushioning and durability. The hiker also includes TPU overlays around the toe for added protection and a lightweight offers breathability.

The Timp Hiker includes Altra’s signature natural wide-fit toe box to promote a natural stride and is available with GTX Waterproof technology, the same as the Timp Hiker GTX.

The Timp 5 comes in four colorways, and the Timp Hiker in two for men and women.
