The new Allen Edmonds Honors Collection golf shoes features QR code technology on hang tags that can access a special video showcasing the new line's craftsmanship process, Ben Crenshaw's commentary about the Honors Collection and the line's five shoe styles.

Although initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing, QR codes are now used in a much broader context, including both commercial tracking applications and convenience-oriented applications aimed at mobile phone users (known as mobile tagging). QR codes storing addresses and URLs may appear in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards, or on just about any object about which users might need information.

Users with a camera phone equipped with the correct reader application can scan the image of the QR Code to display text, contact information, connect to a wireless network, or open a web page in the phone's browser. This act of linking from physical world objects is known as a hardlink or physical world hyperlinks.

Special Behind The Scenes Look

“This technology allows us to show and tell the Allen Edmonds' story of commitment to preeminent craftsmanship, quality materials and special engineering of our golf shoe,” says Colin Hall, Chief Marketing Officer of Allen Edmonds. “We think we are the first shoe company to give golfers this special behind the scenes look on our 212-step handcrafting process and the entire Honors Collection line through QR technology. And Ben Crenshaw's role in this video adds to its appeal and demonstrates his dedication to the brand.”
