Billabong Int’l saw sales revenues increase 16.0% to A$484.3 million ($364.3 mm) from A$417.5 million ($306.4 mm) in the prior corresponding period, while earnings per share lifted 14.2% to A38.6 cents (29 cents) per share.

In the Americas, sales were A$128.8 million ($162.5 mm), up 24.5% in Australian currency terms over last year’s first half. EBITDA also jumped in the region, up 27.3% in Australian terms to A$24.2 million ($31.1 mm). The Billabong brand performed especially well, up over 20%, while Element continued its progress, accounting for 15% of total group revenues. In Australasia, sales increased 10.1% to A$177.1 million ($133.2 mm), which boosted EBITDA 5.0% to A$61.9 million ($46.6 mm). Japan led the region posting a 35% sales jump, while New Zealand also found itself in double-digits growth, up 14%. Europe was also strong for Billabong, with sales up 9.3% in Australian currencies to A$88.9 million ($66.9 mm). EBITDA for the region jumped 25.4% to A$18.1 million ($13.6 mm).

The strong performances in the Americas and Europe, coupled with the solid result in Australasia, lifted net profit after tax to A$79.5 million ($59.8 mm) compared to A$69.3 million ($50.9 mm) in the previous corresponding half year.
