Adobe Analytics projected Cyber Monday sales will range between $10.8 billion to $11.4 billion, becoming the largest online shopping day in U.S. history. Sales were up as much as 21 percent from a year ago.
“While COVID-19, the elections and uncertainty around stimulus packages impacted consumer shopping behaviors and made this an unprecedented year in eCommerce, we expect to see continued, record-breaking eCommerce sales from now until Christmas,” said Taylor Schreiner, a director at Adobe Digital Insights, in a statement late Monday.
Adobe revised its Cyber Monday spending estimate downward from an earlier projection of a $12.7 billion after retailers this year started to entice consumers to shop earlier in the season to avoid capacity problems. Adobe had already reported online sales on Thanksgiving day grew 22 percent compared to last year to $5.1 billion, and Black Friday online sales jumped a similar amount to $9 billion.
