Academy, Ltd. d/b/a Academy Sports + Outdoors, a sports, outdoors and recreation lifestyle retailer, dedicated to making it easier for everyone to enjoy more sports and outdoor fun, opened its first store in Mooresville, NC, located at 426 Talbert Road. The new store is approximately 63,000 square feet and brings approximately 60 new jobs to the community. This marks Academy’s 15th store in North Carolina.
“Academy Sports + Outdoors cannot wait to join the Mooresville community and make it easier for everyone to enjoy more of the sports and outdoor activities that the area has to offer,” said Sam Johnson, Academy Sports + Outdoors’ executive vice president of retail operations. “Whether you’re heading to Lake Norman for a fishing trip, getting your backyard ready for summer fun, or getting back to sports, Academy has the strong assortment of products you need at a great value.”
Customers can expect to find everyday low prices and a unique product assortment from brands such as Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Maui Jim, Columbia, and Academy’s exclusive brand, Magellan Outdoors. The store will have everything customers need for their next outdoor adventure, including hunting, fishing, and camping gear, as well as sports equipment. The store will also carry a wide variety of leisure products, footwear, apparel, patio sets, barbecue grills, and much more, paired with exceptional customer service. Customers will be offered services such as scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange and the ability to purchase hunting and fishing licenses.
Prior to the grand opening, the store donated $100 shopping sprees to 18 children with the Mooresville Police Athletic League. Additionally, each child’s parent or guardian received a $150 shopping spree, in which they shopped alongside their child for all-new footwear, apparel, sports equipment, bikes, fishing and camping gear, and more. Academy Sports + Outdoors also made a surprise $2,000 donation to the Mooresville Police Athletic League.
Beginning Saturday, the community is invited to the store’s two-day grand opening celebration. The free events include giveaways, interactive demonstrations by brands sold at Academy Sports + Outdoors, games for the whole family and much more. In addition to the numerous events are Academy mystery gift card giveaways, free Academy T-shirts, and more.
